Stefano Alessandro Maccario

Dr Stefano Maccario is Consultant in Paediatrics for acute paediatrics and paediatric oncology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Dr Maccario graduated from the Università’ degli Studi di Torino in Italy in 2002 and then continued his training in paediatrics through research in nutrition and paediatric dermatology.

In 2004 he had an elective rotation at the Institute of Child Health, London, under the supervision of Prof. Alan Lucas. He was involved in research on hormonal levels in breast fed and formula fed children.

In 2006 Dr Maccario attended the department of paediatric dermatology, lead by Prof. Ulriche Blume-Peitavy, at the Charite’ Institute in Berlin, Germany where he presented on Rare Skin Genetic Disorders at National conferences.

In 2007 Dr Maccario joined the birthmarks unit at Harvard University, Boston USA, as a clinical fellow and he published a study on congenital subglottic haemangiomas.

After his CCT in paediatrics obtained in 2007 at the Universita’ degli Studi di Torino, Dr Maccario worked as post CCT clinical fellow in NICU in Milan, Italy, and he completed a master in neonatology and intensive care at the Università’ Statale di Milano.

He worked as research fellow in the department of paediatric dermatology, University of Bologna, with a special interest in eczema, atopic dermatitis and allergy.

Dr Maccario worked as Consultant in Paediatric in Italy until 2010 when he moved to the UK. Dr Maccario has worked at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as a post CCT clinical fellow until he appointed as Consultant in Paediatrics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in February 2013.

Dr Maccario runs teaching programmes for paediatric trainees and is involved in clinical audits concerning allergy and autoimmune disorders at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
