Osteria Basilico has been established since 1992. It is extremely popular with local residents, business people and families.

Friendly service with a buzzy athmoshere, all in a typical rustic Italian Osteria settings, matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy is the key to the success of the restaurant.

For the menu the greatest care is taken by the chef in choosing the freshest ingredients according to season. The home made buffet, pizzas and pastas are a good choice for vegetarians.

Booking a table is strongly recommended. No bookings are taken for Saturday lunch.

N.B. please book by telephone rather than email.

Mediterraneo and Essenza our sister restaurants are located in the same street, and they are a good alternative if we are full.

Children are welcome.

A takeaway service is also available.

Have been here with my girlfriend a few times in recent months and I can't fault the food, generous portions, tasty, flavoursome and good wine list. It's not inexpensive but service does not match the food, I guess the manager who is always there knows they will always be full so my suggestion is ask to sit downstairs and don't go for a romantic meal where service can at times be rushed, amateurish and occasionally rude and they are not shy of adding service charge. We will go back but just not often....
