Manicomio Gutter Lane opened its doors in 2008 and since then has been serving some of the most authentic and highly regarded Italian food in the City.

Housed in a striking glass fronted Norman Foster building just moments from St Paul and set back from Cheapside.

The relaxed and buzzy ground floor Cafe operates from 7 am- serving coffees, breakfast, the finest take away deli lunches for miles (as midday queues will testify), teas, cakes, wines, beers and a la carte lunch and dinner. The First and Second Floor/ Roundhouse (named after the Roman Roundhouse foundations on which Manicomio sits) are a more formal affair accepting reservations for their respective 50  and 45 seats.

Gutter Lane’s elegant and simple Italian menu with its emphasis on seasonality is available Monday to Friday for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as cocktails, beers and an impressive 220 bin wine list.

Manicomio also caters for off site events such as office lunches and canapé parties.

By night, Manicomio Cafe transforms to becomes an atmospheric bar lit by oil lamps and candles.

Serving up offerings from the imaginative and expansive 220 bin wine list alongside beers, cocktails and snacks.

The full a la carte menu is also available for a more substantial dinner option.

We came here for a lunch with friends and I was really impressed having initially been out off by the prices I had the stone bass fillet with pan friend fennel and subsequently became addicted to fennel for the next 6 months The portions were decent but I think for £24 ish the course could have been a little bigger The boys both had the gnocchi which was delicious. The portion is small though. It certainly wasn't quite enough to fill them up The wine selection is good. They could add 1 or 2 cheaper ones and we enjoyed a very pleasant cheese course
